Blog 11: Distance Education and Virtual Learning

Distance education and virtual learning allows students and teachers to learn regardless of location. Students can access lectures and materials online, without having to attend class and sit in a classroom. This can be beneficial to many different people. Depending on time schedule, having distance and online education can allow users the flexibility of time when doing online courses. At the same time, users can also become not benefit by common mistakes. Those include procrastination because there is not a set time that lessons have to be viewed, technical difficulties such as viruses or shifty internet connections, or the risk of false accreditation.

In the public relations field, distance education can be used if someone has a job but wants to extend their education and does not have time to enroll at a university. There are also many seminars and workshops that can be offered online if someone does not have the time to attend, but would like to learn the skills taught. Another great use for distance education is the use for sailors in the Navy. Being an officer, I will have men and women in my chain of command that should pursue a degree. Distance education would give them the opportunity to take classes and not have deployments affect their learning.

They have the same requirement as those that are sit down in a classroom, only they are offered online. This can help students who may not live in Florida, but want to take classes at the University of Florida, which has a good reputation.
